Portraits & Mind

Objective
The main objective of this assignment was to select a poorly designed book and redesign it completely. The original content and images had to be retained yet the overall look of the book had to be changed by applying good typography and design principles.

Approach
This assignment was not as simple as it sounded. I selected the book ‘Portraits of Minds’ by Carl Schoonover that included interesting scientific imagery but the design of the book did not deliver justice to it. I changed the entire proportion of the book, incorporated appropriate typefaces, and an appealing color scheme. I placed the images in a different layout to display the uniqueness of the book.
